PostSubject: Available Contracts - September 3023   Thu Jul 31, 2008 9:00 pm

Individual E Ladder Tournament

Date: September, 3023
Employer: Vampires Stable
Contract Type: Solaris Tournament
Contract Location: The Reaches, Solaris VII
Command Rights: Full
Overhead: Full
Salvage: 0%
Repair: Full
Contract Length: N/A
Base Pay: 0

The Vampires Stable is accepting new Mechwarriors to participate in the quarterly ladder tournament on Solaris VII. Unknown warriors must start in the E ladder. Fights are 1 on 1 in a randomly determined Solaris Arena map between Mechs of the same weight class.

To win the E ladder 5 successive victories are required. A loss ends that particular tournament and the task cannot be retried for 3 game months. The reward for winning the E ladder is 1 Experience Point.

The fights will be done individually between the participating player and the GM. Spectators are welcome. In the event that 2 players in the same weight class make it to the final round, the championship fight will have to be played player vs. player.

All damage in the Arena is real. Although gladiators, as a general rule, do not try to kill their opponents, head shots and ammo explosions can still happen.

Consorting with the Consortium

Date: September, 3023
Employer: Ding Ho Consortium
Contract Type: Sabotage
Contract Location: Solaris VII
Command Rights: Full
Overhead: 0%
Salvage: 100% (Fat Chance Though)
Repair: 0%
Contract Length: 1 Week
Base Pay: 2

The Ding Ho Consortium (an obvious front company) is looking for a small force to raid the Zelazni Stables training facility located to the west of Solaris City, on the Keelgulch River. The primary target is the bay of high-quality ‘Mech simulators located in the center of the training complex.

The raid will have to be completed quickly, as there are at least a Battalion worth of Battlemechs at the facility, although only 1 Lance is expected to be active at any given time.

Although Salvage rights are 100%, it would take a miracle to get away with a downed ‘Mech, not to mention that if it ever saw the light of day, Victor Zelazni would become an instant deadly enemy.

Hallorhan Mining, LLC

Date: September, 3023
Employer: Hallorhan Mining, LLC
Contract Type: Security
Contract Location: Uhuru, Stewart Commonality, Free World League
Command Rights: Liason
Overhead: 50%
Salvage: 100%
Repair: 0%
Contract Length: 2 months*
Base Pay: 3

Hallorhan Mining is looking for a security force to protect their deep sea mining derricks on the planet of Uhuru.

Uhuru is a resource rich planet that is 90% covered by water. The shifting tectonic plates of Uhuru contain vast mineral, oil and natural gas deposits.

The planetary Militia is corrupt and has been extorting the local businesses for protection money for several years. The Free Worlds League has no interest in stepping in, as long as the planet continues producing a steady stream of raw materials and resources.

The unit that accepts this mission will sign on for a two month period, unless the local Corporate Liason determines that the planetary Militia is no longer a fiscal threat.

Arena - repair=full mean no worry about repairs? can you start the match with empty ammo bins? repair full does not mean if the mech is scrap by the end of the fight we get it back good as new right? can you call a match early if you are worried about your precious little mech?

Who is backing Ding Ho? (Streetwise roll) Assuming that goes well how do they compare against Zelazni? -Just trying to get a sense of whats in the water before we jump in the pool.

Hollarhan mining - sounds open ended. what if we get sick of hanging around the derrick and wanna leave?

Can you provide some detail on what the numbers mean? Specifically overhead, pay, repair.

Repair full means that the stable will repair your mech after each fight, win or lose. If your mech is destroyed then it is gone.

You may start the match with empty ammo bins if you wish.

You may surrender at any time by ejecting from your 'Mech.

I'll repost on the Hallorhan Mining Contract. It will be a maximum of 2 months, less if the threat is eliminated and you are released by the Corporate Liason.

Scooby spends a few days poking around in some of the Mech-Jock hangouts in the Reaches. After buying an old broken-down Arena tech a few drinks Scooby gets the following political science lesson:

"Well, everyone knows that Tandrek Stables are constantly at odds with Zelazni, so it's probably old Roger Tandrek.

Of course, since it is so well known that Tandrek and Zelazni hate each other, perhaps it is a rival stable hoping to start a war between the two.

Of course it could also be Victor Zelazni himself offering the contract to collect insurance money on the highly valued simulators, or to give an excuse to going to war with Tandrek.

Of course..."

Scooby growls, "Shut the Fuck up Mother-Fucker!"

Old Arena Tech, "What?"

Scooby, "Say 'what' again Mother-Fucker!"

Old Arena Tech, "Sorry, you asked...anyway, no one knows who's backing the Ding Ho."

Scooby, "Shit Negro, that's all you had to say!"

Overhead = the percentage of your operating expenses (salaries, maintenance, fuel, food, drink, hookers) that your employer will pay while you are on contract.

Pay = this will be part of the abstract system I am developing. Basically a Pay of 0 will keep your unit at break even. Of course if your Overhead is 100% then you would gain a wealth point.

Repair = % of repair that the employer will provide (materials and facilities)

I took all these terms from the Mercenary Handbook. I may drop all but pay, depending on how the system works out. I included them for flavor for now, and they may eventually mean something.
